Tanzanite Bead Anklet Adjustable Length Rhodium-plated

$ 37.50

This anklet, which resembles the color of lavender, adds a sweet look to any summer dress. The 9.5" anklet with a 1" extension features tanzanite rondell beads that measure approximately 2 x 3.5mm. ABOUT TANZANITE - in 1967 a Masai tribesman stumbled upon a cluster of highly transparent, intense blue crystals weathering out of the earth in Merelani, an area of northern Tanzania. He alerted a local fortune hunter named Manuel d’Souza, who quickly registered four mining claims. Tiffany & Company named the gem after the country it came from, and promoted it with a big publicity campaign in 1968. Almost overnight, tanzanite was popular with leading jewelry designers and other gem professionals, as well as with customers who had an eye for beautiful and unusual gems. As one of the newest and most exotically colored gemstones, Tanzanite is part of the Zoisite mineral species and is only found in East Africa. Tanzanite is very rarely a pure blue and usually exhibits rich purple overtones. It officially became another of December's birthstones in 2002. ABOUT RHODIUM FINISH: A rhodium finish is plated over other metals to make it non-tarnish, and is a hard-wearing, scratch resistant metal - the same metal used to plate white gold! Rhodium is more expensive per ounce than gold, platinum, or palladium!
